Has anyone out there still got v1.3 of Game Booster? I upgraded to v1.4 and found that it crashes on my Vista laptop.

v1.3 worked perfectly.

I need it to run Oolite otherwise its very jerky and impossible to line up on pirates. :(

If you have v1.3 can you send me a copy please? (I'm not a pirate btw, it's freeware lol)

There seem to be various sites offering v1.3... try this one:

How exactly does it crash?

On my XP, it freezes up when switching to Gaming Mode unless I uncheck the WMI Performance Adapter from the list of processes to cancel. Whether due to some property of of the WMIPA or simply because it's the last item on the list I don't know.

Unfortunately I no longer have any earlier versions; since the downloaded exe has no version number in it, I let it owerwrite the old one when downloading 1.4.

Yes it does this to me too. But not on this process, it seems to be the last process in the list. If I deselect that process, it hangs on the next one up.

Tried this and other sites found using Google, but they all require money to join!

Hmm, strange. It's worth noting that I had the same issue with at least one of the 1.3x versions of the program. I honestly cannot recall which one, and only re-noticed the problem after installing 1.4; the list got reset and I had to uncheck the WMIPA again.
I do remember downloading at least one upgrade in the 1.3x series without having to re-uncheck the WMIPA, but whether that was because the list was not reset or because the problem was fixed in that particular version is impossible for me to tell.

It's a bit odd that it hangs up on the last checked process regardless of what it is. This seems to indicate that the problem lies in the switch to the second list of processes, and is not tied to the actual process it freezes on.

Crazy idea: Have you sent them a bug report? They've released two or three versions in the short while since I first read about the program on this board, so it looks like they update regularly.

Yes have reported on their forum, but it seems their forum isn't as good as this one!

In the meantime I have downloaded an older v1.21 from bittorrent... :)

I got the latest version of Game Booster recently. It's now called the Razer Game Booster, and has reached v4.0.68.0.

From version 4, there is a new user interface, and intriguingly, a new video capture feature. You can record in full HD 1080p too.

I can report it works really well, and to try it out recorded a quick session of Oolite, which you can watch on YouTube here:

What the heck was that Duma doing just after I undocked? I'm sorry to say I got jumped by a large pack of pirates and had to run on injectors...

I'm not sure, but I think this video might be the first one on YouTube showing off the new BGS docking animation? 8)

Nope... Corny beat you to it, I think.

Interesting - the link I posted in the second post is now being blocked by my ISP (complying with a court order, apparently)!

I am unsure how the GameBooster software works, but you might want to give Process Lassoo (http://bitsum.com/processlasso/) a go. I say that because just possibly it will improve your Oolite experience, and also it might help with other programs. Still, it (Process Lasso) does tend to require a bit of configuration, I find. You will, at least, need to tell it to class Oolite as a game.

PS: Apologies if you've discussed this sort of thing elsewhere.
PPS: The freeware version of Process Lasooo that has most of the features of the paid version. (I use the paid version, and to good effect I think.)

Anyway, the video capture process in Gamebooster was painless. No configuration needed - well I did do one change, changed quality setting from High to Highest. I used GB to launch Oolite, then when I was ready to record, hit Ctrl-Alt-V to start, and then again to stop.

The video was saved as an MP4 video file, which was uploaded to YouTube without any further conversion.
