Description:
Adds Bulk Haulers to the game, including:
*Retextured version of Aegidians Bulk Hauler as seen in the Oolite video on YouTube, which until recently has not been available to the public. 4 of which have nameplates. NEW! Original Texture verion with shaders added.
*6 Versions of the Super Bulk Hauler, a massive Cargo Ship inspired by Aegidians Bulk Hauler, one of which is retextured by PAGroove. NEW! 4 new versions with a billboard attachment, two of which are animated.
*Long Range Cruiser, based on the design of the FFE version.
*2 Versions of Lynx Bulk Carrier, based on the design of the FFE version.
(For a little surprise, try destroying the LBC. this ship has a unique "on-death" script)

Bigships:
Included with this OXP is the excellent Bigships.oxp from Thargoid and Eric Walch. Before using this ship install the Bigships.oxp

Installation:
Before installation, be sure to delete any previous versions of adcks_bulk_haulers.
Extract the adcks_bulk_haulers_v1.4.oxp into your Addons directory of Oolite. Just to be sure startup Oolite with the SHIFT-key pressed until you see the spinning CobraMKIII.

Law Stuffs:
This is a free-for-all resource.
Public Domain
Blah blah blah, really, you can do whatever you like with it.

Enjoy!

Thanks for this. Done a lot of light years this evening, only saw one of these new ships. Very nice though.

Kind of reminds me of a whale, or perhaps a Zeppelin!

I plan on one day adding Lynx Bulk Carrier and Long Range Cruiser from Frontier/FFE, (I'd like to do ALL Frontier/FFE ships) but not for a while. If i can figure out a way of exporting the models from, FFE it will help.

I'm sure we can find something to jack them open. Nice ship! Can't wait for it to be griffed!

I hate to drag this up again, but it might be better to draw ships "inspired by" FFE rather than finding a way to extract them, as this is likely to be a legal minefield.

The Long Range Cruiser isn't the most inspiring of models, I think there is considerable room for inspiration and improvement.

Only wanted to extract them for the dimensions, not for a direct port, just wanted them as a base to work on.

<EDIT>

Here's a quick version of the Long range cruiser I made, the texture is only temp, and the dimensions are different than the FFE one by a fair bit... but at least it resembles it.
I was planning on doing the "city" like parts on the top and bottoms with textures, but am now reconsidering doing them as an actual part of the model

I docked in the super bulk hauler. Excellent. Trading was good there 8)

What converting the long range cruiser to a corvette class. (Corvette= smaller than a frigate but with a lot of firepower)

EDIT and maybe a military hauler with turrets or a military Orisis? :D

Yeah, nicely done.

The model is quite uninspiring though.

I was thinking that perhaps scaling up an existing model eg a behemoth or frigate might be a good idea. Thinking like the differences between a Star Destroyer and a Super Star Destroyer (from the Star Wars universe).

How cool could it be to see a super large ship escorted by the smaller variants in the game?

I did a retexture. Hopefully ADCK can shade it up. (lights are not lit atm)

Cool, i'll release that with shaders some time later today
Finally got the city parts of the LRC done... I went a little overboard and there are like billboards and towers and stuff, i think i'll have to have a lower poly no-city model included for lower-end systems :P

It's a big ship, there's a texture crying out to have a normal map! I like it though - and that's a superfast release from that initial mention on the bb just a fw days ago - well done!

Not sure if this goes here or to the Bug reports...

I think it is a bug in the OXP, so here goes.
These appears in the log when Bulk haulers are around:

Code: Select all

[ship.escortSetup.wtf]: Pending escort count for <StationEntity 0x5a6aa28>{"Super Bulk Hauler" "Super Bulk Hauler" ID: 203 position: (10784.4, -3442.34, 581548) scanClass: CLASS_NEUTRAL status: STATUS_ACTIVE} is 3, expected 0. This is an internal error, please report it.
EDIT: Forgot to mention: test release 1.73.4 and WinXP Pro 32 Bit SP3
