Any OXP's that are hosted on http://oosat.alioth.net/ seem to be unavailable. Any suggestions?

Have a look at the WIKI http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/OXP. AFAIK the Oosat site is not up to date and not maintained any more.

Greetings and happy OXPing,

Greyman

Thanks for the reply. But some OXP's still seem to be only hosted on http://oosat.alioth.net/. Custom Sounds for example. But there are others.

Some OXPs are "lost". Unfortunately there is no way to get them, uness you can find someone who has a copy, and get them to upload to the wiki.

Well that answers that. Thanks for all the help. I must admit there are a lot of OXP's to choose from so a few missing ones will not hurt me to much.

There is a practical point here too, that all OXPs that are still maintained are still available. Anything that is "lost" by definition has noone looking after it, and is likely to have a number of problems, and not keep up to date with oolite changes.

So in a way, you are unlikly to be missing much.

Its still a shame that some work has been lost, but really I think we are in good shape generally.

Try here, this site seems to work: http://capnhack.com/hosting/oolite/Oolite/OoSat.html

The site broke down a long time ago. However, it is still a valuable source for "historic" material, like early versions of OXP. And there are even some which never got hosted anywhere else at all.

As I said, the whole oosat.alioth.net broke down and is beyond repair. But there is some good news as well. Winston (I think) managed to save most of its content and to back it up on oldsat.alioth.net. So if you manually replace any instance of "oosat" with "oldsat", you still can access pretty much everything, including the uploaded files.

Well for some strange reason late last night I found I could download a lot of the OXP's that I could not get before from http://oosat.alioth.net/

Party related topic: Last weak I noticed that the box account of Charlie is cancelled. Some of the oxp's still point to his box account were he used to show a list of all his work. For example the Orb.oxp but there are probably more. For the orb I changed all wiki pointers to its download page and added a note about unavailability.
So when anybody want to host Charlies work, link it from there.

Just went to the Orb wiki page hoping to find the link to that mentioned download page.

But all I found was a link to an old discussion on here and the broken link to Charlie's box account.

So is Orb still available?

Once I get the time I might just be able to re-release Orbs - it's always been fairly broken, thanks to Charlie's less-than-conventional approach to OXP making. I know I said that a couple of months ago, but please stay tuned!

PM Lestradae - I think he has a copy.
