Hi and welcome. Can you please specify which version of the game you are running and on which operating system? Also, it would be of great help if you can post a game log, but to be able to help you locate it, we need to know what is the game version first.

hi
i have tried the 3 that are available for windows xp and all seem to do the same plus i have also noted a few other little faults with it
1st is if i do a rear view and look at the space station all i see is a black blob no detail at all unless i am a long way away
2nd is that when i try to look at the space station it goes like a drug haze if you know what i mean pixels go from point of origin to where i am and i can see every single place they have been

so how would i get the game log ?

What do you mean by the "3 that are available for Windows xp"? We only have v1.73.4 and v1.65 up on the downloads site. If you are referring to the files at www.oolite.org, then one of them is the updater from the previous version and is not a full install of the game.

Assuming that you are running v1.73.4, which is the latest and most recommended version, the log file should be in <Folder where Oolite is installed>\oolite.app\Logs. The file is called Latest.log. Please locate it and post its contents here.

To be sure you are running v1.73.4, look at the title bar of the game window. It should read "Oolite v1.73.4 - Sep 22 2009".

Posting the full system specs would also be helpful.
