I hear from David Langford that Rob Holdstock, author of The Dark Wheel is seriously ill and in intensive care.

I'm sure all our thoughts are with him, and wish him a speedy recovery.

 Oh no!

Agreed - positive thoughts winging his way.

(note: have scoured the web - no other news about the great man - so if you find out any more please let us know!)

Sad news indeed. Hope he gets better. Anyway we can send our best wishes?

Cheers,

Drew.

Well, Dave said he shouldn't be contacted directly, so his agents are the best place to send your good wishes:

Thanks Giles, mightily appreciated!

...But I'm a bit wary, if you send a 'get better' card/letter and it turns out he's too ill to get better, isn't that bad manners then? :?

What to do in such a case (when you don't know what's really going on)

I just emailed his UK agent and asked, if possible, that my best wishes were passed on to him from a loyal fan.

Me too.

Cool article he wrote for the Guardian here (they didn't publish it - idiots!). Gives an interesting insight into the man...

Cheers,

Drew.

Ohhhh... Cool link Drew - nice one!

I remember seeing an interview with him many years ago where he admits that he owes the whole of the Mythago Saga to Dark Wheel - because he was paid 17.5p per copy of ELite sold with DW in it - then the money started rolling in and didn't stop - so he could stop his day job and concentrate on getting the Ryhope Woods stories sorted out in his head - and what a set of tales he told!

Sadly, Rob Holdstock died of complications from an e coli infection at 4am this morning.

....

Sorry to hear that :(
His novel was truly inspiring for a lot of Jamesons out there. And his other works too.

You're never truly dead when a bit of you lives on in the hearts and minds of others.

RIP, Commander.

 What a wonderful man to have passed on so relatively young - his recent Merlin Codex work was fabulous, and Lavondyss remains in my top 3 books of all time.

Of course, my thoughts are with his family.

As Kaks says, he wrote so many wonderful stories, he will live on for many generations to come.

Absolutely gutted!

That's truly terrible. Sympathies to his family of course, but a huge loss to all.

As has been said, an inspiration to the game, to the players, and, on a personal note, one of the main reasons I took up writing and 'space stuff'.

The Dark Wheel salutes you Rob. Right on, Commander!

Cheers,

Drew.
