All,

Status Quo Second edition (25 year anniversary of Elite) is now available. This contains extra scenes, improved dialogue, some updates to bring the story in-line with where Oolite has gone in the last three years, and also with Mutabilis itself.

I've also added a bit more depth to the characters, giving some more back story. I've also added the fantastic new cover from Neil.

Hard copy from Cafepress here

PDF Download

Enjoy the digital remastered special edition!

Cheers,

Drew.

Is it Blu-ray DTS ES 6.1 too?

That's going to have to wait until somebody makes it into a movie! 8)

25 years? Perhaps, seems a good number - perhaps 2034 then?

Cheers,

Drew.

Spotted a minor contradiction: Jim and Rebecca are untied on page 88, but on page 89 Rebecca is mentioned as 'struggling against her bonds' - bonds which, according to the previous page, aren't actually there anymore.

Incidentally, this story is still as awesome as ever.

Maybe they're like bonds; OF THE MIND! :?

Oops - will check that one. I think I decided to untie them for the presidents chat, and must have forgotten a continuity check!

Cheers,

Drew.

Story great as ever! :D

<shameless plug>

By the way, if any of you want the Q-bomb to actually behave like in Status Quo (not going off in a gravity well), there is a little OXP which will do that for you: Status Quo Q-bomb.oxp. Check it out!

Recommend above OXP, very cool!

Continuity errors fixed!

Just for reference, extra scenes include:

How Rebecca began to earn her reputation as a 'flyer', the account how of she took down a fully armed Python Class Cruiser with only a Sidewinder and a pulse laser (alluded to in original version)

The race scene with the boyracers has been updated to reference the 'Tori' station and the your-ad-here adboards instead of a Coriolis station at Tianve (brings in-line with Tianve.OXP)

How and where the Agent/Assassin got his ship and how it got its name. Lines up with Mutabilis (in case you were wondering - my research led me here.)

Agent now not surprised by the Q-Bomb detonation (continuity error with Mutabilis fixed) - we now know it was Zerz himself, and he helped develop the Q-bomb, so he shouldn't have been surprised when it exploded!

Jim's explanation of the reason he doesn't just dump the remaining Q-Bomb and make a run for it now makes more sense.

Revised section during the Thargoid encounter in witch space, clearing up why the Thargoid battleship appears at Lave.

Modified ending which clarifies why Rebecca doesn't heed Jim's advice to 'give up the revenge'

Modified epilogue, which looks grimmer than before (gets cheered up in Mutabilis!)

Cheers,

Drew.

Interesting...while I read original Status Quo quite some time ago, I don't remember so many Oolite and other references...did you add some new?

Haven't made any changes to the tongue-in-cheek game references in the update, they were there from the get go. Perhaps you're just more aware of them now!

Drew.
