Oxp-Customisable splash screen

When playing around with creating an alternate splash screen by making a splash.png plus splash.bmp and putting them into the Image folder of an oxp, I found out that the original splash screen staid :(

Perhaps I should note that I put the original splash pic into the collage which I want to use as alternate splash screen.

Would it be very difficult to make the loadscreen oxp-customisable? If you insist on having the old logo in, perhaps a viable compromise could be that it has to stay a visible part of any new loadscreen?

I would request this

L

Edit: Even if put into the Resources/Images folder in the core game, the alternate splash screen gets strangely distorted :(

What are the dimensions of your image? What is the pixel aspect ratio?

I only ask because I use a custom splash screen, and it displays fine.

It's this pic here:

And its sides are distorted, try it. Also it does only make a change at all if it is put into the resource folder, putting it into an oxp's Image folder does nothing.

It includes the original splash screen so as not to remove that information

Another idea I had: Perhaps it would be possible that if further splash screens are added, the original one always appears, first, and for the second half of Oolite loading the alternate one(s)?

Re. the design: Lestradae, I think your version is too cluttered. It's hard to tell what we're looking at. Personally, I think you could do a lot worse than use the one Cmd. Cheyd uses! It's a great screenie, and all you'd need to do would be to add "Extended".

Mine is just a rip of Thargoid's (I think), which is a rip of Ahruman's masterful screenshot. I just added the crap at the bottom about downloading the game for free and stuff.

As for your image, L, try something closer to the original image size of 256px X 256px or the size of mine (450^2). That way, it works on all monitors / resolutions, and the game actually knows how to display it. My bet is the distortion is because the loading mechanism has a maximum display size and it's trying to squeeze your over-sized image into the maximal space. That's just a guess, but let's call it a semi-educated one. :P

It's Another_Commander's. I just hosted a version of it converted into a suitable file format.
