Asteroid line-up

While playing Oolite yesterday evening I came across some neatly aligned asteroids and thought that would be a screenshot worth sharing with you.

See for yourself and also have a look at the radar image. There are quite some asteroids arranged in a neat line.

I ask myself whether there are any astrominers out there with a disturbed sense for neatness. :lol:

Or does anyone know why and how that could happen?

<poor Russian impression>
Komrade, in Kommunist systems, all asteroid fields are arranged in manner such as zis. Only in foolish Capitalist systems are asteroids arranged in random manner. Is simples, Kommunist way is better.

<also poorly imitating an accent>

Da. Keptin Hesperous puts forth a wonderful explanation.

On the other hand, in prosperous capitalistic systems, composers can arrange to hire mining ships to arrange asteroids in space at the whim of the composer.
Why you ask?
Answer is simple, the composer wanted to arrange a symphony in space written in musical notations upon the scanner display of their decadent capitalist wessel.

By the way, Keptin Hesperous, do you sell caviar in addition to your trumbles?

A while ago I came across a ship that, after killed, released cargo pods in identical triplets, just like the asteroids here.

I guess it was the same underlying bug, although I don't know which one. (Probably the script was accidentally called thrice in a row?)

Something to do with a sometimes semi-sequential not-so-random random number generator, perhaps?

Sure, but still you would have to spawn the same number of objects three times in a row in order to see this effect.
