Do Galaxies get harder as you go up?

A fairly noobish question, but I haven't found a direct answer on the wiki.

do the galaxies get tougher as you move from one to another.
Does galaxy 2's pirates tend to have bigger lasers, more pirates in a pack?

A related question, as you go up in rank, do the pirates you face tend to get tougher ?

not necessarily. There are some safer regions in the later galaxies, and some more dangerous ones. Check out the galaxy maps on the wiki for a bit more flavour.

pirates-wise, I've found they're much the same between G1 and G2, and between the ranks. Except that as your skill level increases they're easier to survive / chase down / vapourise.

Some OXPs do flex with your rating, I think, and others increase the number and viciousness of pirates you may come across.

Let's try to phrase this from the reverse point of view.

Why would a player want to travel the other galaxies when there seems to be no substantial difference between them?

Missions!

Your first real native mission takes you from chart 1 to chart two, and the last native mission happens in chart 5.

OXP missions happen in various charts. Assassins, for example, is all over chart 7, and Cataclysm may take you on a runaway tour.

Without the missions, life in the Great Beyond might start getting a little dull.
