I do know if that has been suggested already.... but lets assume you fly a cobra mk3 and during a firefight with a ship an anaconda the guy leaves the ship via escape capsule and you can either with the help of a docking device enter the "empty" ship and leave yours....or get the 30credits for shooting the rest of the ship.
if you decide to enter the ship, you will then have to find a save way home with a ship that is probably seriously damaged and risk that you also die....

sounds like an adventure...

Hmm. Provided you have the necessary OXPs installed, you can already (a) plunder the ship's fuel reserves or (b) slavage the whole ship and claim a payment for it.

Trading it in for your old ship, however, is not provided for by the game engine, and is not doable via an OXP. So, for the time being, I suggest you enjoy options (a) and (b).

b) only works on special derelicts, not on any ship where the pilot has abondoned it!

Or have I been away too long in order not to notice that this has been changed?

Previously, the salvage missiles would not work on such ships.

According to a recent post (yesterday or the day before) by Eric in another thread they are now working on all derelicts.

While you're boarding another ship, your ship is available for boarding.

Which ship would you prefer to have?

Choose wisely. 8)
