Annoying pitch

I'm new to this game and these forums, so here comes a real newbie question:
I'm running v1.73.3 in Linux (Ubuntu 9.04), using keyboard only (no joystick connected or configured).
I have a problem with the pitch. It is a little bit off center, which makes the ship always pitch upwards. Pretty annoying, since I repeatedly have to compensate by pressing the pitch down key (up arrow in my case).
Are there a center key for pitch and roll? Cannot find any (except for the right-click when using the mouse, but I'm not planning to use the mouse).
Probably me missing something fundamental, so please be gentle!
Best regards,
Mats

I can only guess there, but maybe you have mouse steering activated (by accident). You can toggle Mouse steering with Shift+M. If turned off all the controls usually automatically center themselves.
Hope this helps!
And welcome to this board!

Thanks for your reply Greyman!
That is what I thought too, so I've tried pressing shift+m, but the pitch still stays off center.
What I also tried is to switch to full-screen mode and enabling the mouse control. Then, if using the right-click, the pitch is restored back to its center. But if disabling the mouse control, it's goes off center again.
And I have also noticed that this is problem is not permanent, it comes and goes from time to time.
More ideas anyone?!

Welcome to the boards, mats77!
Are you sure you don't have a sticky key? As in, sometimes (or most of the time) it's always "on"?
Try remapping the pitch keys temporarily to some other keys by editing keyconfig.plist and see if the problem goes away.. (copy the Oolite\oolite.app\Resources\Config\keyconfig.plist file to Addons\Config\ and edit the copy, it will then over-ride the one in the original directory)
note: you can't use the num-pad keys, unfortunately..

Sticky keys... hmm... don't know...
Have to check this out, and I will try your little trick to see if goes away.
Thanks a lot!

Hi Commanders,
I use a logitech Attack 3 stick and get the same problem with the pitch, sometimes with the roll too.
I haven't found what causes it though usually rebooting the game will clear it, sometimes I need to reboot a few times before it clears.
If anyone knows what causes it I would be real glad to know.
I'm also using 1.73.3 on XP. Though I sometimes got the same problem on 1.72.2

Yes, rebooting the game usually do the trick. And I have even seen it disappear in a current game session. Too bad I cannot recall what I did (or what happened) in the particular moment...

This might be somewhat related to a weird mouse handling bug another_commander fixed quite recently... do you still get that problem with 1.73.4?

Have not tried 1.73.4. Thanks for the hint! I will try it out and see if it gets any better.
