Hi Phonebook.

I think you need the System Redux OXP. All the moons you want.

thanks for that, i have installed system redux and yes moons aplenty

but not at every system it seems, is that correct? actually the textures seem to be a bit random too, that is to say they seem to turn themselves on and off

Well, even in RealLifeā„¢ not every system has them. :wink:

System Redux uses pseudo-random to create moons and additional planets in each system. This means that the number is random within certain parameters, but each time you visit the system, the number (and also the moons) will be the same.

By the way: you can control the maximum number of additional moons and planets through variables in the file "script.js" within the OXP:

Code: Select all

// Set the required number of moons and planets here (from 0 to 4)
this.max_moons = 1;
this.max_planets = 0;
The settings above are my personal choice. I don't want more than one moon per system, and no additional planets. Therefore I get one moon in some systems, and none in others.

Turn themselves on and off? What do you mean by that? Like once you look at it the moon is textured, and five seconds later it is plain white (or whatever)? That would be very strange behaviour indeed!

System Redux contains a number of textures for moons, and a number of textures for planets. Again they are assigned to the additional moons and planets pseudo-randomly: A random texture to each planet and moon, but the same texture each time you visit the system.

thnks for that- further investigation has led me to realise the textures only appear at close quarters

Hi phonebook, I'm really curious about the vanishing textures bit, since it might well be a bug. Have you got any before & after screenshot?

PS: At the moment system redux only changes the system you're in. If that's what you mean by close quarters, then there's no need for screenshots, and no need for bugfixing on my part! :)

no i mean flying real close to the main planet reveals the detailed textures, havnt really flown so close to a moon to find out

Can you post a screen shot with and without the detailed textures?

To quote DH:

Take a screenshot with Shift+8 (i.e. *) this will be saved with your saved games. You then need to host it somewhere like photobucket or your own website and then you put the link to the image between the [ img] [ /img] tags seen at the top of the message window.

Nothing wrong with being quoted, DH.
It's when people start paraphrasing you; then you should worry.

The texture issue sounds like a ATI drivers issue. Textures for planets did not always work properly under catalyst drivers prior to 9.6, so if you're using an ATI card and don't have the latest drivers installed, thats probably the reason for the texture weirdness.

If you have an Nvidia card...........I dunno, can only suggest trying the latest drivers.

As to where moons come from, well when a Mummy moon and Daddy moon love each other very much................................ :wink:
