Colour Blindness?

I turned up at Legeara in galaxy 2. The void was awash with colour not a single patch of black anywhere. Screenshot below shows the part of space with least amount of colour. The citizens around here must have developed colour blindness by now. As you can see from screenshot it severely limited my fps.

They're probably the space hippies. Why else they would settle on planet where you don't need LDS to get high?

Could not reproduce. :-)

Seriously, though, it looks like either you’ve been messing with the nebula_count_multiplier or an OXP is doing it for you. It’s a colourful system, but not that bad.

Haven't touched a thing...honest guv
only oxp installed that would maybe mess with this is system redux?

The snapshot taken was were the system was at least colourful you can actually see specks of black on this. My poor lil netbook didn't like it very much.

Brought to you by Ionics.oxp, which sends you to Legeara at the very end of the missions. (Rustybolts, weren't you just about finishing Ionics? That could have given you a hint.)

When I played Ionics, I found it both colourful and annoying, because it caused a permanent drop in framerate to values similar to or below the one in the screenshot. Calculating nebulae seems to be real work for the computer. Which makes navigating in a system like this practically impossible. Fortunately Legeara is the only system ramped up like this by Ionics.

It's also one of the reasons why I de-installed Ionics after finishing it.

It is ionic.oxp that adds that colour in two of the mission systems. Its to much in my opinion and it has a bad influence on fps. But it is the choice of the author I did want to respect when I recently removed some bugs from that oxp. (But I must admit that I was tempted to reduce that value)

Yes it makes it unplayable.

I used to get around 15 fps on my G3, but playing Ionics, it fell down to 2-3.

Needless to say: toally unplayable

You could switch <reduced detail> ON in the preferences. With reduced details active Oolite does not show those nebula. On my system it doubles the FPS count in that particular coloured system.

Ahh thats what is , actually my Ionics install hasn't started yet (so i never even thought about it) but yeah it is installed. I just happened to be flying around that part of the galaxy after testing Blackjacks bullion.
Judging by the rest of the posts my lil netbook was fairing up ok then at 8-10 fps. Still I will have to look at code to reduce the effect.

Won't have time to have a look for at least a week as i'm off to Italy to get married. Hear from you all when i get back, hopefully a new mission oxp or 2 will be waiting for me.

Cheers all

I'd say that's a great reason to go to Italy.
