I've been using the one from commander matt and the black and white other one from seventh (with the "lite" cut of) since they were submitted. Just one opinion, of course.

I was going to try to avoid showing favour until the bitter end, but meh, whatever.

Here’s what I thought of when I saw the original glossy/sparkly version. The stars are there, but barely visible; they’re completely invisible against a white background, and show up against a dark background:

We can’t really use a design that only works against a particular background, because we don’t control players’ computers. We could use the version with coloured stars on the web site, though.

A quick test suggests that this will work reasonably well for 64×64 and above, and the stars can be removed for smaller sizes.

Talking of bitter end, is the new logo going to be decided just before MNSR's feature freeze, or before then? ;)

A sign! A sign! The omens are good!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

This is purely my personal opinion and nothing more, but I feel I would be liking this about a million times more, had the Cobra been drawn without the exhaust plumes.

Agreed, and TBH the Cobra looks a bit too much like one that hasn't had any texture applied.

Seventh’s reimagining of the current icon perfectly captures the nature of Oolite “MNSR”: it is superficially the same as before, yet improved in almost every detail, more flexible, and makes use of better graphics support where available.

A variation similar to the one I posted above will be used for Oolite 1.75 and later.
