Hi Hemlock, welcome to the boards! You need to host the image on another site, e.g. imageshack, and use the {img}mypicturesurl{/img} tags to get them to show up in the posts (except you need to use [ ]s, not { }s).

BTW: By disabling BBCode nothing will go wrong if you want to post [img]http://www.url_to_my_very_special_and_unique_pic.png[/img]
