I am only running Oolite 1.71 along with realistic shipyards, I just got realistic shipyards, and now when I get on, all lettering, on the hud and on the station, price tags on ships, Everything, comes out looking like someone took the smudge tool in photoshop and dragged it up and down, but only on the letters, everything else is fine, does anyone know whats wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the friendliest board this side of Riedquat! (Most of the time)

Are you using Realistic Shipyards V3.02b or is it OSE WiP V0.4?

Cheers

And are you really using 1.71, or should that be 1.72.2.1?

If it is truly 1.71, any reason for not being on the latest version?

K got an update, I reinstalled oolite, without realistic shipyards and its still doing it, earlier, before I got realistic shipyards it worked fine, Im using an Ibook, might that have something to do with it? did/can realistic shipyards change something about my system that might kill the lettering?

If you are talking Realistic Shipyards V3.02b under 1.72.2.1, in short, no.

Looks like pictures I saw on the boards of graphics card issues to me ... but you will have to ask much more knowledgeable people than me concerning that!

Hope you can solve these problems soon,

That's the kind of display I got when I only partially removed the new fonts from OSE by mistake.

What OXPs do you have installed at the moment? Anything other than RS?

If not then either your graphics drivers or the font plists in Oolite itself look bad to me.

Thanks Lestra, and no, I have nothing but rs installed, how would I go about fixing fonts on a mac? I know how to on windows, but Im new to mac.

probably in your /system/library/fonts folder, the /users/(yourloginhere)/library/fonts folder, or the /library/fonts folder.

i'd start with the users library first, as the other two are system folders.

one thing i've noticed, is that when i put in some musical notation fonts, is messed up some of my other programs... in my case starcraft on battlenet. go figure.

the brute force method of figuring it out is to make a new folder, and start moving 30+ of your font files at a time to the new folder, restart and check the program. by moving 30 or something at a time, you will eventually isolate the problem font-but you have to reset your computer each time to ensure that the old fonts are unloaded and all. pain in the rear, but you'll eventually find it.

or you could move out half of your fonts, check, and then switch out the other half. if it clears up on time, then you know the font is in one of the halves. move out smaller and smaller chunks of that half until you find it. nice thing is, if you move out one half, then the other half, and nothing fixes it, it's not a font problem. ^^ given that you have three font folders, you might have to do this a total of six times to determine where the problem font is, or if it is not a font problem at all.

hope this helps a bit.

From what I remember from the discussion before, I don't think Oolite's font is a system font like that. It's installed within the game folders itself, and is actually a picture (well a lot of small pictures) of letters.

The relevant files are oolite-font.png in the oolite.app/Resources/Textures folder, and oolite-font.plist in the oolite.app/Resources/Config folder.

My guess would be one or other of those could be corrupted. Have a look at them, and if one or both are broken then perhaps just remove and re-install Oolite?

1 I allready reinstalled, and how could the fonts get broken in the first place? I didnt mess with them.

It's entirely possible that they were corrupted while you were downloading them. Data transfer over the Internet, while very good, can occasionally mess up. This results in unusable data.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Well how do I fix it?

I doubt it. It will have been downloaded as part of a zip file, and any corruption would make the zipfile unreadable.

I suspect that this is driver or PC related, nothing to do with oolite directly.I guess it might be due to oolite settings, such as resolution or one of the graphical options like shaders, so it might be worth checking that they are sensible?

many good ideas to check. pick one and try it out. then move onto the next idea. ^^ might want to try different versions as well.
