Hi,

really enjoyed the last few days playing Oolite on my mac. It brought back memories!!!

Anyway, I've amassed a fair bit of money (25,000 credits), got the useful upgrades, found a technique that makes money (slowly), got to the second galaxy and can even win the odd dogfight.

But now I'm getting a little...bored.

I've read some interesting stuff happens when you've got a zillion kills but i'm nowhere near that!

Looking for ideas!! Is there more to the vanilla game I don't know about? Should I install one of those expansion thingies?

Wait....you don't have a single OXP installed?

Okay. The first thing you need to do is go to the wiki. Download and install a few OXPs, then a few more, then a few more, etc etc. Then start playing. Vanilla Oolite is basically just a framework upon which the game is built - the real meat is in the OXPs. Which ones you prefer will vary - almost no one has the exact same OXPs installed, and it's largely down to individual preference. I'd list the ones I have, but there are well over a hundred in my AddOns folder (from simple ones that merely add a single ship to the several-hundred-MB Famous Planets OXP) and it would simply take too long.

EDIT: The ones I would recommend for just about everybody regardless are Your Ad Here, Galactic Navy, Behemoth, Behemoth Spacewar, Thargorn Threat, Aquatics, Random Hits, Executive Spaceways, Trident Down, Famous Planets, Planetfall, Hoopy Casino, Black Monks, Sysem Redux, oldships, s-ships, x-ships, newships, PA Groove's Stations, Torus, nuvipers, and Wolfwood's Variants. Oh, and Saleza Aeronautics, UPS Courier, Taranis, Ionics, Assassins, Long Way Around, Black Baron, Local Hero, sunskimmers, Deep Space Pirates, Ring Racer 1.01, and orbits.oxp

Although orbits.oxp can cause some issues for oxps that place objects precisely (especially if the description says the target is between witchpoint and main station and then orbits.oxp moves the planet, which moves the station...

And Local Hero is currently broken and is undergoing re-write by the author.
