I was lookin around on elitewiki, and the "nav array" legend shows an icon for wormholes. Where are they found, and what do they do? :?

They let you follow another ship's witchspace jump.

Hey there, Makorian!
Welcome to the friendliest boards this side of Riedquatâ„¢!

As previously noted, the wormholes (shown on the scanner as traces that flash blue-cyan) are the after-effect of ships' use of their Hyperspace engines. These can most often be seen if you hang around the station and watch some of the big haulers (Annies, Boas, etc.) or if you happen to be in pursuit of Random Hits marks who decide that cowardice is the greater part of discretion. Flying through one of these wormholes will allow you to 'piggy-back' to the destination system that the previous ship went to (indeed, when you arrive you will often see the ship you followed at the other side) without expending any of your own Quirium fuel. Be warned, however, that sometimes the jump will lead to some unsavoury locations, like Anarchy systems, so be prepared for a fight, if you haven't got sufficient reserves of Quirium!

P.S. would you like a nice, cute and fluffy companion to accompany you on your wormhole-hopping adventures? Only 30 Creds!

I find that using other ships' wormholes can be a useful fuel-saving measure on long trips, though there is an element of risk involved in that it's possible for the wormhole to take you in the opposite direction from your intended destination.

When the (hopefully) soon-to-be-released wormhole scanner is available, that element of risk should disappear...

@ Captain H: clearly, there is some warped strange feline definition of the word 'nice' of which I am unaware...

Normally I end up typing Catpain. Stoopid natural curve keyboard, finger keeps slipping off the 'n' key.
