Presenting a new work of Oolite fiction, downloadable as a PDF from box.net:

Calliope – a Captain Hesperus adventure

I say fiction, but "unvarnished truth" is closer to the mark. Allegedly.

Thanks to the Captain for all his background information and his permission to proceed, to Drew for showing just what can be achieved, and of course to everyone involved in making, maintaining, expanding and playing this spectacular game. And my apologies to Jack Vance for stealing a deity. :D

Pfffff! My wife's laptop doesn't have a pdf reader on it and it's too locked down for me to install one!

Own PC is currently overheating...

Will read later. :(

Woot! Now that's a good bit if writing! Not the poor sue I can muster!

A fantastic job good twists and turns and a lethally comical ending. Da cat done good.

Claps Hands ! :D Excellent piece of work, Disembodied! Read it in one sitting and laughed out loud on a number of occasions.
I think I prefer the more traditional 'hands up'

Very well done indeed. Captain Hesperus rides again!

Cheers,

Drew.

I'm only partway throught the story, but i really have to commend you for your language and style. you're a native English speaker for sure? I couldn't even begin to dream writing stuff that eloquent. :(

The goat soup had me in stitches from the very beginning :D

Thanks, folks! Glad you've enjoyed it. Once again, a big thank-you to Captain Hesperus for letting me play with his character. :D

@ Rxke: I'm a native speaker, right enough. Although I do come from Glasgow, so ...

Just brought myself home and finally read it. It's nice, very, very nice! Great style and language indeed, Disembodied! Ten of ten!

P.S. SPOILER CLOAK: ON. I assume, what they forgot to remove from the bridge and drop out of the ship in the very end was fed to Captain Hesperus' trumbles? I mean, it's not that you'll want to fly with that kind of thing around, but it's never mentioned what they did, so I'm guessing.

Fantastic Voyage. Looking for more Hesperus stories. He's one of the more colorful characters in the Ooniverse. I liked the story very much. Well Written.

Great Story. Really nice to get it in book form (Poets Transportation and Goat Soup particularly cool!). I've been following the adventures of the Kirin (great) but this was unexpected and being able to read it in one go was a great RL escape. Live Long and Prosper all Oolite fiction writers! Took me most of Sunday to read it in window with other RL things in another. Made me feel 14 again! And to the Captain himself, "Always and above all things I am still the cat who walks by himself and in all places alike; And I am no mans friend or servent" You will yet prevail!

Pretty Please?
