another rather odd thing

helloo.
a couple of odd things actually.
having just ensured the supergrass didn't make it to the court room for the triads, and whilst involved in some pretty hectic evasive manouvres, i accidentally ended up in wichspace, only to end up in some more pretty hectic evasive manouvres, when 'we boom your bases, poet!'
the resulting pyrotechnics took out thousands of both sides. then, floating around wonderin what to do, i came across a seedy space bar (?!?) (odd thing No. 1)
unfortunately my record preceded me, & they wouldn't let me in for some fuel. (grrr)
so, hanging around wondering (again) what to do, I observed a string of ships leaving the bar, & flying in a dead straight line, BUT, all at sleightly different speeds, resulting in the faster ones crashing straight into the slower ones. (odd thing number 2).
do NPC's not have collision avoidance techniques?
fuel less & fugitive, I set off into the ether, searching for a non existant sun, never to be seen again. my rusty ship may get found one day, the crumbling bones of my skeleton still at the helm as a warning to all the criminally inclined. :(

press space commander.

No suns in interstellar apace init! The space bar appearing in witchspace is odd though as I thought I'd added a condition that the planetnumber is greater than -1 (ie you are in normal space). The rest though I think is expected behaviour from the OXPs you have installed. Its part of the normal game that occasionaly your jump engines can mis-fire causing you to be marooned in witchspace. Thargoids lurk here and the Navy can often be found fighting them.

? Do you have 1.2 of Random Hits installed? The AIs were rewriiten for the latest 1.3.275 version (1.4 should be out next month). Its a known bug on 1.2 that the bar launches waaay too many hunters and they don't set waypoints so crash into each other. 1.3 adds waypoint setting and friendly fire code, so the ships don't attack each other if one accidently hits the other in combat.

Ah, but there was one planet. and i've seen them before there, too. no station or anything though, just the bar.
what's putting the planet there then?
1.72.2 with
Zzzz Oolite Shipyards Extension WiP V0.1.1.oxp.
minimac.

is it that maybe?
L?

thanks for the reply.
i'll keep an eye out for the new Random Hits.

Do you have System Redux or something like that installed? That does add planets without a station to normal systems...or maybe you did not end up in witchspace, but accidentally flew into a witchspace-sphere from some other ship and thus came to a new planet where the "N" buoy was missing? In that case it's necessary to fly close to the planet so that the compass can switch to the station.

Concerning your OSE version, it seems that you are using an old test release while there are newer ones! On the other hand, maybe I just got confused with the numbering scheme ;) I haven't had a witchspace accident since running OSE, thus I cannot tell if it does change things there...would have to force a malfunction for a test...I'll do that later today, I guess!

No, OSE should not place planets in witchspace! So this probably isn't it.

I will send you the link to the newest test version of OSE with a short explanation how to use it if you send me a contact email via PM. The newest WiP has had some issues resolved which are still there in V0.1.1 (no Screet, you did not mess up the numbering scheme - this really is an already older version of the WiP)

Still, also no planets in witchspace in V0.2 ...

Cheers
