Ships Sale Value

Hi guys

Back on board having been away 10 days

I am curious on how ship valuation works on exchanges. I presume it degrades over time having watched mine steadily drop despite numerous add ons. (I currently am using the original Mark III Cobra, kitted out with just about everything available from standard stations). How is it configured in the software and is the value of your enhancements taken into account.

I also noticed a dramatic drop after chasing around the galaxy on missions using stars for fuel for speed, does the close approach to stars to fuel up degrade the value more quickly?

Also, how does servicing work? I notice this is offered at most space stations, does this bump up the value and should it always be accepted.

As I am packaging up credits at present for a decent exchange, it is frustrating to see the value of the active ship plummeting. Possibly something I am doing is not a good idea? Tips welcome!

Yes, the value degrades over time. Most of it is due to the usual wear out of your ship's components. And this is why you get offered a maintenance overhaul as soon as your ship's value has dropped below a certain treshold.

Take the offer, and much of its value will be restored (together with the convenient side-effects of deep-cleaning your cabin  ). So it is a good advice to have your ship overhauled immediatly before selling it.

Your installed equipment is also factorised into the resell value of your ship. But you have to accept drastic losses in some cases. So it is not a good idea to buy expensive equipment before selling your ship.

When you are going to switch ships, it's best NOT to have a maintenance overhaul until you find the ship you want to buy - and then have it performed before buying the ship.

This way you get the highest resale value for your ship.

If you want to keep playing with your ship, it's a good idea to have maintenance being carried out as soon as you can (or fly to a navy base for cheaper maintenance, if you worked with them in the past and got a nice rebate). You can keep flying a ship without maintenance, but you are more likely to have a misjump, as I understand it.

The fuel leakage seems not to be linked to maintenance, but to sheer luck. Maybe I'm wrong there, maybe it would be a good idea to have it's chance also linked, if it's currently not. That would be something for the coders to answer or implement.

The leak chance is linked to the maintenance, as well as luck.
