Ooo err... you are right on both counts, it is freeware, and it is not in the list of freeware games...

And it would probably be deleted off the freeware games list straight away, as it is <quote>not notable</quote>.

Why would Oolite not be a noteable piece of freeware?

I was just wondering ... why would Oolite not be a noteable piece of freeware? Is there anything we could do to make Oolite noteable?

We could always have nekkid celebrities on Your Ad Here billboards. Sex always sells and the lawsuits would be free publicity. LoL

Oolite is noteable. The wikipedia entry was nominated for deletion but, after noteability was established (mainly due to the fact that it received an "Editor's Choice" award from Macworld) the decision was made to keep the article. It's now currently listed in the freeware category.

To be pedantic, it's not "freeware" (which usually refers to proprietary, closed, but gratis software - i.e. software that is not libre, only gratis). Oolite is both libre and gratis, i.e. free in the sense of freedom as well as free as in there's no charge for it. Oolite is better than freeware.

It was also featured in a print Linux magazine, too (I don't remember which one). So there's absolutely zero doubt on its notability by Wikipedia standards.

Well if Elite turns 25 this year it's the time to let your local Game Magazine know that it lives on in Oolite for free!

Being open and fully modifiable, with (practically) no license, it's not freeware, it's anarchyware!

You are correct my dear man, the beautiful game has something of a lack lustre record with the proletariat.
Still with the insertion of the nuts!.oxp containing big guns, space stations shaped like mammory glands and access to a server that will enable you to get your ass kicked by every 11 year old in the country (just don't accidentally chat them up, it's a prison term). Then we feel, that the common man can finally slip into this game like a set of comfy old house slippers.

Yes! but with even more nudity!
I don't know you try and offer some one something a little bit different than the common fare and suddenly everyone's complaining that it's not "base" enough.
