Unable to download from BerliOS

Hi all,

Firstly, excellent work to all people involved in making and expanding Oolite. :D

Unfortunately, I am unable to download anything, let alone the PC version (1.72.1) I need from BerliOS. The download links from prdownload.berlios.de timeout. A traceroute reveals that the destination is never reached. A friend who is currently in Thailand can't get to it and I even tried a German Proxy service to see if that would work, but it didn't. :(

I searched the forum and found references to BerliOS being somewhat unreliable from time to time. And even found an FTP site that had the updated test version, but not for the PC. :(

Is there a mirror somewhere else? A Rapidshare link someone can provide? I know I could wait a couple of days for the BerliOS link to work again, but I don't really want to . I've been waiting for so long to play a modernised version of Elite. And the fact that it's expandable is simply marvelous.

Thank you in advance.

Hi TAC,

welcome to the forums!

As I can't get the linux distro of 1.72.1 to work on my PC I now find I'm in a similar position to you - the link from http://developer.berlios.de/project/sho ... up_id=3577 for the Windows version doesn't work! AAARRGGHH!!

Hope it's sorted soon - I'm an old hand at this now, but noobies like yourself deserve the chance to jump straight on the band-wagon!

As a temporary measure to help you, I've uploaded my copy of the Windows 1.72.1 distro to my webspace until Berlios comes back.

You can download it from here. Once Berlios comes back I'll remove it again.

Editted to add - it's now up, so link removed...

@Thargoid - much appreciated - downloading now - still no time to play - but more options now available! :)

BerliOS seems to be back up and running, so I'm going to remove the file from my webspace (as it's taking up 20% of it ;) ).
