I'm a big fan of Babylon 5, right? It's just about as big as Elite in my eyes.

So guess who nearly messed his pants when he found the following website?

http://ifh.babylonfive.ru/deltawing/

It's Elite style gameplay in the Babylon 5 universe! I may never go outside again!

Ooh...

Oh there where, it was very much newtonian physics though, sling shot combat as i call it, it was released in 2003 after i think 4 years of developmemt....

Only ever tried the first release, and I dont like newtonian sling shot combat physics, so i gave up on it, especially when it turned out to be very hard to even hit the jumpgate....

And, No shields, only Hull, a hit is a hit.... ;-), and in a star fury or delta wing... every hit is critical...

I played the original "Babylon 5: I've found her" - even downloaded the CD case art work and made myself a "proper" box for it.

I remember it being very atmospheric, and almost impossible to play!

Having looked at some of the screenshots - I think with the exception of the shadowing (on the alphawing especially obvious) - with Griff's shader stuff and with the potential of the new normal maps Oolite will still be ahead of the game graphically (expecially if the normal maps can be applied to planet surfaces as well as objects in space)

I stumbled across the original I've Found Her game a couple of years ago - yeah, it was hard. I couldn't get past the training mission in hyperspace.

I loved the graphic quality though, and the atmosphere was COMPLETELY Babylon 5, even down to the lightning flashes in hyperspace.

The newtonian physics was implemented far better than in Frontier, IMO.

Up side is that there are very few direct beam weapons. It's pretty much projectile fire.
