Installation Instructions v1.72

Installation instructions (IMPORTANT) > if you have Famous planets_v1.1. you can begin at step 2

1. This is not a stand-alone package so download and install Famous planets v1.1. at:
http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Famous_Planets_OXP

2. After installing v1.1. delete the System Redux config directory that is in the directory of Famous planets v1.1.

3. Unzip the contents of this package in the Famous Planets_v1.1. oxp directory.
For example: ( Oolite172/AddOns/Famous_Planets_v1.1.oxp).
It will then add only the new content into the existing oxp installation.

4. If you are on Oolite 1.65, 1.70 or on 1.71.1 then a last step is needed

Go into the Oolite/Addon/Famous_planets_v1.1.oxp/config

Change:

Code: Select all

if (this.fpCheck(system.ID) && player.ship.position.distanceTo(system.mainStation.position) < 12000) {
to

Code: Select all

if (this.fpCheck(system.ID) && player.position.distanceTo(system.mainStation.position) < 12000) {
Then save the file.

4(Optional) If your computer can take it you can choose to download FPXP1HD.zip[ and u extract the HD textures of XexediHD and LaeninHD in the texture directory of Famous Planets and set overwrite on Yes.
These are big textures but are very sharp!

5 Start Oolite with the SHIFT-key pressed until you see the spinning Cobra Mk3

And here you go: Oolite has expanded again.

Nice job pagroove!! :D

Any future plans for Galaxy 2 (The planets that ionics mission pack takes place for excamble)

By the way the requires.plist in your expansion pack is inside config directory. Is that normal (forgive my ignorance if it is)

:? mmm must be me. I was making a release directory before packaging so then the requires.plist is there. If the OXP works then leave it there. Oterwise this is a little fault of me. 8) 8)

I think it's just ignored in the Config-folder. So it won't do any harm. If you want it read by the engine, however, you have to place it in the first level, together with the Config-folder (and the rest of it).

If this is true i do not think that will cause any problem. I will cut & paste it in the first level just in case.
@pagroove: I do not think that there is a need for a new upload although that an advice in the instructions page in the wiki would be nice.
You can correct it in the second expansion pack  when? when? when?

I'm in the proces of updated the Wiki. A.t.m. All planets of the expansion pack has its own Wiki page. Qitiri has a map. I'il make a map for every planet in the coming days 8)

See:

http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Famous ... ion_Pack_1

And for Qutiri

http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Qutiri ... h_Guide%29

Even just adding is a lot of work. But nice it's there. 8)

Now that I have travelled to all of them I can second that.

With one and only exception. The texture of Qutiri has a straight line (almost in the middle) that actually divides the texture into 2 parts. It is so noticeable that you can see it even if you open the texture from windows

Just tried installing this pack with no success. Have posted in the PC forum
here.

Meanwhile decided to play around with the map provided with the expansion pack.

Basically, I took the map of Galaxy 1 and converted it to SVG format using Inkscape (available for free). SVG files are resolution independent so you can compress more information into a smaller area (although considerable use of the zoom button is required and you have to keep the geometry simple).

It's still a work-in-progress, and I'm struggling to find somewhere to upload it that works with SVGs (it should with the Oolite Wiki, but I'm not ready to put it on there). (See here for an example, but you'll need Firefox). Plus it's a monster of a file to edit.

Here is a section of it in PNG format with the Key:

I've taken the government symbols from the game and the SecCom icon from the Wiki (all credit to those due) but I had to simplify the economy icons.

Does anyone think this is worth pursuing? More to the point, does anyone have any suggestions for other routes to include?
