I cannot express into words the profound effect upon discovering this game, & this forum has had on me, to be part of a like minded community is incredible.
All of this has found a very special place in my heart.
Thank you all.

You are certainly not the only one feeling this way! :D

Oh, and a warm welcome also from my side to the boards and of course to this great game! :D

I have to admit to being glad to find a place that didn't think I was nuts for still being crazy about a computer game launched in 1983! 8)

Cheers,

Drew.

It's kinda like a support group here. "Hi, my name's Dave and I'm addicted to Elite"...

Oolite is the Methodone of the digital age...

Caught myself at the back of a traffic jam on the M25 the other day saying, "Damn. Masslocked."

I'm very ill aren't I!

Cheers,

Drew.

Thank goodness I had just swallowed my tea before reading this! Who knows what would've happened to my keyboard otherwise....

Like what he said. I'm often quick to offer comments or "advice" without showing much[1] in return (cargo containers and escape pods/greeblies on scale models spring to mind  ), but I wouldn't be here without the dedicated and time-consuming work done by a group of people who could so easily be doing something else and not sharing the fruits of their labours with the rest of us.
So, to those people who have re-created and nurtured what used to be a simple wireframe flyin', fightin' and tradin' computer sim into something that rivals - and in my not-so-humble opinion beats (and pummels and sends kicking and screaming for Mom) into a cocked hat - many products that people willing pay stupid amounts of money for (just browse the 'charts' shelves in any shop selling computer games!), I would like to say ...

Thank you very, very much.

Jeff (aka Captain Chicken, leg-end in his own lunchbox^H^H^H time)

[1] Actually, I haven't shown anything in return. Can't remember if it was this forum or another, but someone posted a comment about those people who join a board and criticise the things others do without contributing anything useful in return. I don't think the comment was aimed at me but it did make me feel a little guilty... One day, I will have something worth posting pics of... but don't hold your breathe (unless you're spaced without a vacc suit  )

@BlackKnight - you're here - you're playing the game - you're spreading the word - therefore - QED - you ARE contributing!

Greetings!
I have been playing Oolite for about a year and decided I would register and give my thanks as well...and like the pirate I am I hijacked this thread.

I am going to try downloading 1.7.2...currently using 1.65. I love the mission OXPs but I have no programming skills. I will have to change that soon if I want to make the stuff I want.

If others want mission ideas I am willing to share the ideas that are roiling around my fevered game geek imagination.

Again...many thanks for all the effort that everyone puts into this project...now to spread the infection of Oolite...!

I hadn't coded much before I built my tianve.oxp...

I just opened up some of the simpler OXPs others had made and begged, borrowed and stole - works just as well for OXPs as it does in the game!

Tianve.oxp is really simple - have a look in the code and you'll soon figure it out.

Cheers,

Drew.
