I have been online for about 3 weeks now & I am well chuffed to find this game.
I used to play elite on the C64 in the 80s.
About 5 years ago a workmate handed me his old C64 with the tape player so i began searching retro game stores to find elite again.
Tracked the game down in stirling, still boxed, it even had the keyboard overlay in good condition.
I still have the comp & game tucked away nice & safe.
A big thank you to the dev guys for making this to the PC, you all have made an old man very happy (or is it a happy man very old :D )
CHEERS FOLKS!

Hi gogz69 - welcome to the forums - I too discovered the original Elite on the C64 in the (mid) 80s. I too was blown away by how cool Oolite is.

In real life I was born in Stirling, lived in Denny and my dad worked in Falkirk (early 70s) but they shipped back to England in 1975 (North East) and I've been moving steadily further south ever since!! Still holiday every year back in bonny Scotland though.

Thanks for the speedy reply my good man.
My cousin and i played elite in the mid80s too,we would spend hours at it, myself at the keyboard & him on the joystick (well it was his C64).
I never thought it would be this good though.
Just back from skype with my mate in grangemouth telling him about all this, sadly he's not keen on it, his loss
Been reading the space battle thing AWSOME STUFF!!!

One thing i would love to see is ingame chat, hope its here soon :D

Welcome aboard!

There is a *lot* to discover and enjoy about this game. I've been here two years, and I'm still playing 'catchup!'

I was a 'Speccie' Elite player back in 1983, and obviously the C-64 was the epitome of all evil at the time  . Spent a month in Stirling as a consultant about ten years ago - nice place!

Have fun!
Been reading the space battle thing AWSOME STUFF!!!
Which space battle is this then?

Cheers,

Drew.
