Hey there guys, firstly may i congratulate you all on a truly magnificent game, i have many fond memories of the original Elite series and to play an updated and expanded version of this classic is wonderful!

Right, on to my problem. Before you laugh, i'm playing an old version of the game (1.62) as i don't seem to be able to get the others working on my laptop and i didnt want to miss out all together!

When i dock at stations with a tech rating of 12+ no ships show up for sale. I have quite a few of the OXP's running but i'm not sure if this is the problem. I have spotted a similar post to this and the solution to this was that a few hyperspace jumps would usually clear the problem, i've tried this but to no avail. Is there anyone out there who may be able to help me?

What are your system specs? Maybe the reason you cannot play with versions later than 1.62 is just a driver issue (not that I have high hopes, though).

I'm running an Intel Celeron M processor (1.33Ghz) with 512Mb of RAM, not sure about the graphics card (if there is 1!). I'm not too worried about not being able to run the newer versions, although it would be nice, its more the problem with the high tech rating stations thats bothering me.

I think I may have hit this bug (no ships for sale anywhere) on one of the early versions of Oolite. I think its fixed on a later version, but in 1.62 I think all you can do is just fly around for a bit. After making a few jumps it tends to go away again. Taking out and adding OXPs that add player ships tends to "re-deal" the ships available in the shipyards. So you could try moving your ship OXPs out of AddOns to desktop. Load up your Commander. Exit and save. Then put them back in and reload.

Cheers LittleBear, i'll give your suggestion a go. I'd hate to think i'm missing out on access to better ships because of it. One day i may even update the spec of my laptop so i can run the newer versions of OOlite, but at present i'm just happy being reminded of an old friend..........

I’m not sure the second-last real release counts as an early version. :-)
