I didn't watch Red Dwarf in the early nineties - at the time, it wasn't really my cup of tea.
But I watched two episodes last night, and thoroughly enjoyed them.

My favourite ever Red Dwarf quote is an early one before Kryten came on the scene...
Lister is comforting RImmer over the knowledge that his Dad has just died when the Cat bursts in..
Cat : "Man, I'm huuuuuunnngrrry!"
Lister : "Shhhh! Rimmer's dad's just died!"
Cat : "Yeah? I'd prefer chicken!"
