planets not rendering correctly

greetings ooliters,

i just spent last two days checking out the elite type offerings for linux and after much installing, building and playing oolite comes out the best :), but I have one annoying issue.

i'm running 1.71 on fc8 (installed from .package file) on amd64 with GeForce FX 5200.
when in game play or checking info on any planet the rendering is off. i see a bunch of transparent polygons instead of the nice solid planets i see in screen shots.

i tried 1.65 and had same. building oolite is a pain on fedora cos the gnustep stuff isn't in repos and i've seen lots of posts about issues with it.

any ideas appreciated.

TTFN.

We'll call this planet "Ikea".... because it looks like it's made of chipboard :)

I believe previous occurrences of this bug have been fixed by installing up-to-date hardware drivers.

Welcome to the boards poidol.

I've got Ubuntu rather than Fedora but I found my graphic issues where solved by using the nvidia restricted drivers.

Nvidia's webpage is actually very useful and comprehensive for us minority Linux users.

Sorry for the late reply (was away for a couple of weeks).

Why don't you try System_Redux.oxp? It's definitely an optical improvement, as far as planets are concerned. :D
