V1.71.2 strange issues

Greetings humans.

Now thoroughly enjoying OOlite on a few machines at home, but one is giving me some problems with V1.71.2 . It runs, but the advanced compass doesn't work (it just acts as if it's not installed) and if I fire my military lasers, I either don't get any beam or just a few red triangles above the cursor.

Anyone got any ideas what needs to be done to get it to work? The compass is annoying, but the lack of lasers make it unplayable as if you're off-target you can't see which way to re-aim (if you're on target you still get the red spot hit on the enemy ship).

V1.65 runs fine on the machine, but I want to run the new ones as there's so many new OXPs that need it!

Machine is a standard-build Dell D600 laptop, running XP Pro (almost new build, nothing much installed software wise, fully updated to SP3). I've got a Dell D630 too, and that runs V1.71.2 fine.

The first issue may have to do with a non-US layout keyboard and the solution would be to simply map the advanced space compass to a different, unused key.

For the second problem, what ship is it that you are flying? Is is the same ship on both the D600 and the D630? I think the laser firing points were tweaked in the later versions, but don't quote me on that, I have not checked the svn logs and don't have time to do so at the moment.

If all else fails, the usual advice of utilizing latest graphics drivers may apply also here.

Greetings,

Key remap works, will now just need to remember to use the new one!

Ship is a SuperCobra with military lasers, from the OXP. If I try it with a bare Cobra MkIII (the default Cmdr Jameson) it seems to display the pulse laser correctly.

Just tried different lasers with the SC and none of them work properly. However Military lasers with a normal MKIII (and with an Outrider) work fine. Seems to be something in that OXP perhaps?

Thank you for your assistance Commander...

For cross-reference, the issue seems to have been in the SuperCobra OXP.

This has now been fixed by someone much cleverer than me, details in this post here.

This is due to a bug (reported several times now) in 1.71, that will have the weapon_position_foos ignored.
