Strange happenings in Lave.

A weird bug methinks. Upon entering Lave I encounter a planet, only, it's not a planet, but a planet shaped object made up of letters and numbers. Very strange.

Am currently running 1.71.2 on Win Vista (Quad core 2.4, 8800GTS, 2gb) I have all OXPs installed. I suspect it's system redux causing the problem.

Or is it the appearance of Raxxla?

Just thought I'd let you all know.

Cheers.

Who, weird. Take a picture for me. Once I did a misjump, and I went to a place with a sun, and some planets, that might be raxxla. Oh, darn, I might get wanted for claiming to have found raxxla.

thats ok, dear dude. You go to http://www.imageshack.us/ and click upload an image, select the image, and copy the fourm link, then post it here.

Blimey - it worked, but it's a wee bit small.

Hold on...

Does the 'letters & numbers' planet still appear with just lave.oxp inside the AddOns folder?

Did you by any chance resize the window or switch to/from full-screen mode at any time? (A most heinous crime…)

What you are seeing is what ahruman is trying to find out, and he is correct in his asumption...

i had the same odd effect once...

The Letters and Numbers on the planets, are Oolites Character set... these are stored in an image file, and will upon resize window and change vidio mode from full screen to window via the f11 button or the in-game menu, cause that effect... It is usually allways the same texture that gets replaced, which is why you can reproduce the effect...

If you switch to external view(Default for this is "V" key), you will notice that your ships texture have very likely changed too or it just looks like its not projected correctly on the model... and again it is usually the exact same projection or change, each time you have resized the window or gone from full screen to window, or vice verca...

in my case, I use Vista Ultimate, the Planet texture get replaced by some black texture and therefore looks like it has dissapeared.. i can make out a black disc with no static stars or nebulas behind it....

Assuming my suspicion is correct, this should no longer be a problem once planets transition to the “new” texture code used by everything else since 1.68 or so.

I see your screen shows the writing: 'Try and keep a low profile in this system'

What oxp is that from, never seen that before.
