Wouldn't it be cool to have a new promo video on Youtube or Google Video to promote Oolite as it is now?

Nice idea!
Anyone up for trying to get to get together some clips that really show this game off to the world?
My ageing machine won't let me run at a very high res :-(

No, not really. Advertising test releases makes little sense to me.

@Ahruman:

It`s your`s to decide if promo video or not at this point ... or if you deem it to early.

Just wanted to add in that 1.71.1 does no longer feel like a test version to me. On my system, it`s running completely stable, and I play Oolite a lot.

Keep up the good work! :)

I’ve said it before and I’ll almost certainly have to say it again: the test releases are not necessarily unstable in the sense of crashing a lot, but they’re unstable in terms if feature set. The scripting environment is still changing, so things that work with 1.71 may not work with future versions. (In particular, I intend to separate the ship-related attributes of player into a player.ship property – there’s no need for the scripting interface to reflect design limitations currently in the game.)

A stable release is a commitment not just to playability, but forwards-compatibility, and we’re not there yet.

Ok I understand. Just wanted to say thats Oolite is a great game with great people making it even richer in content (and that was my idea behind a video) But no hurry. We can do that later.

i think a video is a good idea. one to put onto youTube.

advertising is never a bad thing.

i'll add 'do promo video' to my list of things to do.

there are a number of screen recording programs out there. i have a few on my system already. and i have format converters, so i could tweak the settings to boot. some are even freeware-at least there are some for mac. i'm not sure about the windows side, but i find it hard to imagine that there are none.

plus i have editing tools available to me, so i can volunteer to put it all together if everyone makes available to me the screenshots that they take. =D

Screenshots? Didn't you meant to capture video and make a trailer?... Or will it be just a mere sequence of stills? :?
