Lurking in the shadows of a very realistic shipyard.

and supervising the retrieval of a disabled, but intact cobra (with quite a valuable cargo, which I know nothing about whatsoever, if anyone asks.)

Would this be even possible to add-in such maps to already existing ships?
Well, yes. Griff just did. There’s no difference between already-existing ships and ships currently being written, except that the latter haven’t been completely written yet. :-)

I suggest reading the EliteWiki article on Materials in Oolite. Adding a normal map without writing a custom shader will work exactly like adding an emission map does now.

TIONISLA Chronicle TXTNET (TM)

>Q-WORLDS ANNOUNCES RILACE TERRAFORMING PHASE-1 COMPLETE

TERAED (Galactixnetwork) - Today a spokesman of Q-Worlds said that Rilace Terraforming phase 1 is complete. 10 years ago Q-Worlds landed the first terraforming ship 'Genisis' on the Southern hemisphere of the planet. At the time there was almost no atmosphere and nearly 90 percent of the surface was covered with desert. After installing the Q-Worlds Quick Terraforming Grid (TM) air was quickly boosted into the atmosphere. Q-Worlds then bombarded the equator region with self fabricated Ice meteorites using the new high pressure Orbit cannon from Terratools. The Ice was Harvested at the Wagar Ice plateau at Beusrior (just one jump away). The impact created some water to start with and with help from the Terraforming Grid more was created. A historical moment came 8 years ago with the first rainfall. Special seeds from Reinen formed the base of the new agricultural area's on the planet. The next 10 years Rilace is expected to feature a rich ecosystem. Rilace has already seen an increase in tourism from spacetraders make planetfall while traveling on Spaceway L2. The site of a self-sustaining Terraforming city is awesome.

@ jody b: Nice shots! :D Just out of curiosity: Where is the dockingbay in the first screenshot from? Looks very nice.

It' s a SIRFYard from Realistic Shipyards ... actually from a WIP version of it`s in-the-works successor a handful of people have a version of, but they are already in RS 3.02b, too.

for my next experiment, i´m going to turn this 6000 poly ship
down to about 900-1000 using normal maps.....

textures are 3d max default bump maps, not my own.... hence why it has only a single texture scheme.

another_commander might recognize its resemblance ;-)

I witnessed this today.
Whilst he's busy, you can happily shoot away at him & he can't respond. as long as he's a criminal, your 'clean' rating won't change, so the bar doesn't seem to mind.

ha ha. adder mk 2 takes out a condor. result

Hey, how come he gets to dock when he's a criminal? :x
I guess he didn't ask.

:D Yes the staff of the Seedy Spacebar chain don't like that sort of thing at all! Its sort of a bug as the CondorsAI tells it to dock with stations even though its too big to fit in. The docking bay on the Spacebar is the standard size, so I'd guess the same thing could happen with any station. Bit surpised that the bar was able to turn the Condor into a criminal (even though he richly deserved it for such a serious breach of GalCop traffic control regulations) as although its intended that the bar marks ships for crimes the committ I 'd thought police vessals were immune from this. Great series of screenies! 8)

I agree with LB - lovely series of Screenshots.

Pity there isn't a flag built into the ship plist that simply states:

Can dock? yes/no

To avoid such ramming issues.
