I think the rank progression on the board might have become too low - some people have that amount tenfold.
Besides, any half-dedicated poster can quickly reach the rank... We know that it isn't that easy in the game.

So I put it to you: how about correcting this aberration?



I know, some of the poll options would make it that there would be nobody ranked Elite... but (hopefully) it won't be like that forever!
OTOH, we can just set it to a slightly higher stage now, and just change it again when needed.

Anyhow, let's just vote and see what comes of it.

Hmm, what motives may Maegil have? Perhaps he doesn't want to share his rank with too many other people? (Doesn't feel really exclusive anymore, does it?) On the other hand: He already has a rank of his own (although I don't really envy him for that).

Now, seriously: I agree that, as people are staying here longer and longer, and our top posters accumulate more and more posts, the ranking system could be more dynamic. I vote for Elite at 2048 posts, because at the moment only three posters qualify for that (our acting Supreme Grand Admiral and our Master and Commander among them (and I feel we would not be entitled to strip HIM of his Elite rating, so 6400 is not an option)), and it would give me something to strive for.

Forums aren't all about post counts...

Concentrate more on the validity of content rather than the amount of posts you can make.

Ahruman, is it possible to add another field (edits restricted to admins) for the earned titles and separate them from the combateer ranks?

Nope. (I believe that’s possible in phpBB 3, but I don’t have the time, inclination or server access privileges to fiddle with that.)

I use phpBB3 on my forum, and I can't seem to show post count ranks at all, even though I have added the relevant ranks.

Special titles come up fine though.

Edit: After a bit of fiddling, I've come to the conclusion that PHPBB3 only allows the same as PHPBB2 as far as ranks go - Special Rank or count-based Rank - not both.

I don't want to be Elite on this forum until I'm Elite in the game!

(So never probably. I never made it too Elite on the C64, Speccy, or Amiga; so I don't think having a Mac is really going to help me.)
