THIS PAGE
Ore Processor equipment for Giles William's Oolite
The Ore Processor costs 3500 Cr and can be found at shipyards of tech level 12 or higher.
It attaches to the fuel scoop and instantly extracts valuable materials from mined asteroid splinters.
Thanks to Little Bear, Cmdr Wyvern, Griff and DaddyHoggy for creative input and bugsquashing.
Special Thanks to Ark for updating this OXP to v.1.5 and to Kaks for finally ironing out the terrible edible killer asteroid bug by making the Ore Processor work differently in different versions of Oolite.
v.1.52
Update by Kaks:
- A problem with the script spotted by Eric Walch has been fixed
v.1.51
Update by Kaks:
- The Ore Processer now works differently with Oolite 1.65 and Oolite 1.70 up. Gem stones only available in 1.70
up to stop splinters from awarding food.
v.1.5
- Price has been increased
update by Ark:
- Scripted messages tell the player what material has been extracted.
- The Ore Processor can now extract gem stones
- code has been optimized
v.1.03
No more rock candy. Seriously
v.1.02
Edible asteroids have been removed
)

I was under the impression, that Kaks had tested the new version thoroughly, and that there was no
killer edible asteroid bug (which was the reason why the older version didn't award gems).
Unfortunately I have no way to test OXPs on my current setup so I have decided to downgrade the available version back to v1.03 until this has been sorted out.

No, I haven't seen it yet, I've been a bit busy with Charlie's creations, but now that Lestradae kindly volunteered to check out some of the Benulobiweed products I do have some spare time...
Is there anywhere I can grab 1.5 from?

Sorry guys
I have tested it thoroughly in 1.65 and 1.70 (Pc version) and i got Gems not food
I really do not not what is happening in 1.68
Does anybody have the same problem with 1.70 and 1.65
EDIT: Test it again and i got gems
In the award command I am using
Gem-Stones and this is correct
for the simble reason that it is the same with the nova build in mission.
I am going to download 1.68 (never had that version) and test it
EDIT 2: My fault!!!! it is working ok only in 1.70. In 1.65 i also got food instead of gems (how did i miss that
).
Strange i am wondering why?
That is the reason why when you finsh the Nova mission in 1.65 you get Food instead of gems!!!!.
The Gems-Stones is not working in 1.65 (only in 1.70).
Was that a bug of 1.65? Why Giles used Gem-Stones in order to give you Food!!!
Does anybody knows a name for gems that will work with both 1.65,1.68 and 1.70

Until this gets sorted out or we have another latest stable release of Oolite, the Ore Processor will be available in two versions:
v1.03 for Oolite 1.65
v1.5 for Oolite 1.70

Got to the bottom of that problem, the way it awarded cargo in 1.65-1.69.1, it got confused by the '-' in Gem-Stones and it was trying to add the non-existent 'Gem' cargo. When it couldn't find 'Gem' as a type of cargo, it would add the first type of cargo it could find.
It took me a while, but I found a way to combine 1.03 & 1.50. Dr Nil, the resulting hybrid should be waiting for you in your PM box!
edit Ark, there's no name I'm aware of that will award gem-stones in 1.65-1.69 Maybe Ahruman knows the secret code!

That means that until 1.70 every script (even the build in Nova) that tries to give to the player gems it will give food!!! ......
and nobody have noticed that until now!!
Thanks Kaks.
I am very curious about this now version
EDIT: I am wondering for how many "unknown bugs in 1.65" corrections we have to thanks Ahruman.
If it was not for the memory leaks 1.70 would be a standard by now
After the terminology of
NMSR (Next mythical stable release) I want to introduce the one of
LMSR (Last mythical stable release).
That is a joke, definitely I do not want to offend Giles and the past contributors

Yeah, about that… in the current trunk, I can only find two small, slow leaks. We’re talking ten kB leaked over half an hour of play. (The only major leak that’s been fixed is the one in generating system info, that primarily affected the short range chart screen.) However, there are still leaks that only show up in the Windows build.
If anyone knows of an OXP that exacerbates leak problems,
please tell us about it.

Hey, if 1.65
consistently gives you food instead of gems, that’s stable.
