Also, I've been encountering the Thargoid carriers a whole bunch lately (since I installed the OXP and upgraded the ship). Anyone else noted that they sometimes blow up into a billion little system-comes-to-a-crawl hunks of alloy for no apparent reason?

Also, you can dock with them? What's up with that? You can dock and trade with the most fearsom sworn enemies in the universe? Seems odd to me even if they have wacky high prices.

The Cloaking device doesn't award kills toward your Elite Rating, nor does it allow the gaining of bounties or the completion of 'kill Foo' missions.

Yes, that is a bug that Selezen, the OXP's creator is attempting to rectify. He's not sure whether to ring the docking port with high powered plasma cannon or allowing ships to dock, so that Thargoid attack crews can start tearing off you beloved equipment, bit by bit.

Take it. Methinks this is usually related to them colliding with something. To me it happens when two Thargoid Carriers are spawned too close to each other. Or could be a collision with the Battleships they're spawning.

Or it is just a spontaneous failure of the rather complex and complete non-understood Thargoid energy system. A random energy fluctuation can lead to the implosion of one of the energy cortex stabilizors deep inside the ship. The sudden failure of the stabilizer results in another energy fluctuation, so within seconds the effect may cascade through the whole ship. Without stabilizers the whole energy cortex becomes unstable and starts pulsating. Energy, instead of being transferred to the ship's systems, is absorbed in this process, which untimately will lead to the explosion of the cortex. But even before this the structural integrity of the ship can't be any longer maintained, because of the lack of energy for this purpose. Carriers, which due to their sheer size need a higher proportion of energy to maintain their structural integrity, are more likely to fall victim to this syndrom, according to this hypothesis.

The plan was that if you could manage to dock with the carrier, you could buy Alien Items cheap and sell them later. Only trouble is that it is a bit easier to dock with the carrier than I originally hoped.

I want to go back to the Carrier OXP at some point and make a few changes, but it's on the back end of my to-do list.

Please selezen when you are ready to upgrade it remember to degrease its appearance in normal space. When you become elite the encounters with a thargoid carrier after a jump are ridiculously high.
