someone did something like this recently as an OXP - try googling for OXP oolite mp3 or something similar.

Hello Charon102,
I have had the same problem - no music support in-game at all (only in the start screen), because I'm on Windoof. And from time to time (on a long journey) I've missed this feature. Using an other music-player is possible, but not an elegant way. Switching between 2 or more applications is not a real gaming session.
