Good news if you're a Ubuntu user.

I was just trying out the latest Ubuntu (7.10) on a spare hard disc (normally, I use Fedora). I clicked on Applications -> Install Software and searched for Oolite - and yes, it's there :-)

Unless you want to be on the 'bleeding edge', there's no need to use the autopackage - just install it from the Ubuntu software repository.

Awesome!

It's okay but not 1.69.1.1;) , I've managed to compile up after sorting out the libjs issues, so if anyone is getting stuck on compiling on Ubuntu post a reply and I'll try to help.

Also created 1.69.1.1 installer, just doing some final debugging before I offer it out.

Is there any reason the Linux development versions seem to lag the Mac/PC versions, or is it just a lack of resources?

Version is 1.65 on Ubuntu 7.10, and gets installed into differant locations from the Downloadable installer so watch out for the correct locations to install system wide OXPs, but you don't do that do you ;)

For Ubuntu packages, they are only ever going to track the stable release, rather than development releases.

As for development releases, yes, due to lack of time mainly. But the new nightly build system has run its first build, so hopefully fairly soon Linux will *always* be ahead of Mac/Windows builds as it used to be, thanks to an automatic build :-)

Excellent News on the nightly builds, can't wait to try them out :) If there is anything I can do to help, let me know.
