5 pirates? Try 8!

I was tootling along with some *ahem* "pharmaceuticals" 
in a democracy system when I was jumped by 3 pirates. "3, with my front mil laser? Easy!" I thought. I lined up and locked up for my initial pass & when I was 8 klicks out 5 more appeared on the edge of my scanner & went hostile! 
One of the extra 5 was a weeviloid hunter!
After over 30 minutes of dogfighting, injecting and monty pythoning it came down to me & the weeviloid which had taken a defense mine hit earlier on knocking out one of it's turrets (thanks for the OXP Ramirez )
Another 5 minutes later I was the sole survivor with a fair bit of battle damage
8 more kills towards Elite, over a 1000 creds in the bank and a celebratory drink in the spaceport bar!
Edit: less the 250 cred fine for smuggling
