auto_ai is not working when default is set to NO.
The whole purpose of auto_ai is to be able to add traders and other system ships by script without getting wrong AI behavior. A lot of the existing ships have no auto_ai set. Oolite 1.96 defaults to auto_ai = NO. That means their behavior stays the same as before. In most cases the creators of the ship would have liked that their AI file would switch with the role.
When I now add several hunters at the witchspacepoint, I am still being attacked by them as a lot have pirate.AI. With this frequent wrong behavior of oxp ships it is still impossible to add pirates, traders or the like with a script, even if the systemships have well-defined auto_ai.
I vote for changing the default to YES, as this is the situation that in most cases was intended by the designers. When a shipdesigner does not want this he should is explicitly set to NO.
