Pulp Fiction moment

So I'm entering into a system and I see laser fire ahead of me. I rush in to investigate. There's a Sidewinder intensely firing on a Mamba escort and chasing him down for all he's worth.

Both have clean records and neither one sends out a distress call. Off they go, with the Sidewinder pounding away on the Mamba. Neither one goes after me even when I get very close.

I decided to leave them alone, looked like some sort of internal quarrel? LOL!

Reminded me of Pulp Fiction when Vincent Vega and Marcellus Wallace stumble into the pawn shop with both fighting...

Why bother searching for explanations? I would've killed them both, basta.

I think one has to remember that a clean rating does not imply a pure heart. After all I have a clean rating and >12,000 kills :D

Yes, but I've never seen this behaviour in AI ships. Haven't since.

I have seen it before and it was a Sidewinder and Mamba as well. Maybe one of them shot the other by mistake. There was no one else on the scanner so I just shot them both.

What might have happened is that the mamba and sidewinder were previously in bust up with a pirate, and during the fracass one accidently hit the other, and after the pirate was "removed" they were left with each other.

Wow! That's impressive. (I've only >8000.) I should put more effort into it.

So what's everyone's personal proudest combat moment, then?

Given that I'm only on my second ship (i.e. first purchase), my best is taking out 5 pirate ships that were escorting a boa but took an unhealthy interest in my cargo. I was in a Cobra Mk. III, four basic missiles, EMP, no witchspace injectors, and I took all five out and left with a full hold (though not the original contents) and no damaged parts. Now that was a scrap and a half. (Never done it again, mind - I got a few fours, but the last ones always get away.)

Sadly I couldn't find the boa afterwards, which disappeared during the fight, or I would have scored six...

Rusty Python, 2 hardheads, Shield boosters, Beam laser fore and aft, EEU, 115t 'Puter to Poor Agri (Anarchy). Got jumped by 1 Python Class Cruiser, Cobra Rapier, 2xCobra NjX, Two Dream Team Sidewinders, a Mosquito and a Fugitive Viper(!).

Result?

I'm Cr268 richer, and have +8 added to my Elite Rating. Never even lost a full energy bank.:D

When i got Ambushed by 2 Imperial Couries v 1.0, and two Griff Kraits + 1 standard ship i dont recall anymore, while i was flying my Boa Class Cruiser the "Merx Serendipitous"

And killed them all, with only about a single Energy bar left, shields down and plenty of cargo destroyed and equipment damaged..

Theire bounty and cargo could never pay for the repairs i had to make at the next station able to do so...

and only + 5 kills...

After that, i removed the imperial Courier as these where the ones that caused me most problems while the Griff kraits made long range doubled lasers attacks on me...

Near a station. 'Goids all over the place, I was homing in on one, lasers nearly overheating, thargons galore and also plenty of cops. The 'goid maneouvered and I followed, shooting the station by accident... Suddenly I found myself the center of attention, everybody trying to use me as a tambourine.

The finger was itching to press the witchspace governor's 'engage' button, but I held my ground and ended up lhe last one standing. Only barely, it must be said in respect to the truth, my ship was all shot up, but still...

You did well there, I don't know how Oolite handles it, but my previous versions of Elite would spew out Galcop vipers from the station ad infinitum, and they would just keep coming at you, and interplanetry travel could be interesting too! I think Oolite produces far less Galcops.

I think there's a limit to the number of system ship blurted out by stations. Seems a bit odd tho'.
