Hey there, hi, hello... uh, again.

Well, its been a while... a very long while. So long, as a point of fact, that I've completely spaced my old password. And as my old e-mail is non existant I couldn't change my password so grarr. Not that it likely matters, I'd only made a couple posts here before vanishing the last time.

But yeah, that's why there's a "v2" next to my name.

In any case, I was going to show you guys a ship I'd been working on for Oolie, but your anti-spam devices are most assiduous. So you'll have to wait a while.

Uh... so.. hi, kinda.

Uh... so, ...hello? Or ùaybe, hello again? Hello back?
Mmmm... well, hello! There!

Just out of curiosity, you're not planning another aberration like the Ratter cutter... are you? :?

I don't know what this ratter cutter be, but the implied derision tells me it's bad.

Me no like bad stuffs.

And I take pride in my work in any case - I've no intent on releasing anything that pains the eyes. Though I'll admit the aesthetic I'm shooting for may not be wholly elite like.

Hmmm... maybe if I try this...

It's clumsy, though...

The problem isn't really the aesthetics, but a personal taste on style.
The Rattler is like a Star Wars X-wing armed with four lasers. It usually kills you brfore you had time to lock on it and conclude that prudence is in order... And even if you do have the sense to try and keep away, it not only is very precise (or rather, it shoots over a large area) but too fast to evade.

If you do survive long enough to lock on it, don't spare on the missiles!

Oooohhkayyy...

That's a tad... excessive I think. I guess I'd have to see it in action to be certain, but just the description seems like it was poorly considered in terms of gameplay.

Hmmm...

Here's the link for those who don't want to type it in, http://dei.rooms.cwal.net/GZFrT1.png.

A nice different shape, I assume that it's some sort of carrier? If not, it looks like it should be. :)

Well... now that you mention it, it certainly has that look to it, but no. I'd actually intended a medium escort type ship, like a corvette or frigate. Besides, if it were a proper Behemoth those turrets would be flargin' enormous.

Hmmm... that reminds me... are articulated two-piece turrets possible in game?

Not at the moment. Possibly with scripting in 1.70.

Incidentally, you want [square brackets] around those Ses in your sig.

Oh... uh... aheh. Thanks.

As for the turrets... well... kind of a bummer, but I've come too far on this ship to stop now. Maybe I can spoof it with subentities... hmmmm...

Maybe you could have them rotate or sweep using the same type of code used by Selezen on the Imperial Courier V2 or the Transhab station (I forget the author).

That'd probably work for the interim, yes. Not the most ideal solution, but to the best of my knowledge you can't really fit subentities with an AI.

Oh well. Back to da texturing.

Hm. There are some similarities in design philosophy, but it doesn't actually resemble any particular ship, or even the general design characteristics of either race.

I'm missing something, aren't I?
