Looking for Help...

I am looking for help I want to make a couple of items... Someone made something like what I want to make, but not exactly for one of them...

The made a refuel pod you could buy to refill your tanks a bit... I want to design something that will allow you to increase your fuel capacity at the cost of cargo space...

the other item I want to make is to increase the base speed of your ship an engine enhancement. I wanted to know if this was possible and if there was an explanation someplace as to what the values mean in the Equipment lists and what opratives are available... what can be scripted...

Is my ideas even possible?

Thanks
Greystar (more or less an Oolite Newb, but not an Elite Newb (played original C64 version when it came out).

I think 7LY is a hard coded maximum. Maybe an after-market doodad that could make your fuel injection more efficient is possible...

I do know when i edited my player save game that had my ship info in it, it allowed me to change my fuel to 140 aka 14.0... I had noticed the fuel nod in the NPC ships so I tried adding it to my ship at 14 it allows you to have 14.0 fuel BUT doesn't allow you to refill to 14. So you are probably right. I was figuring it would be an after market thing, but I need to figure out how to add it and make it show somewhere on the screen... I was thinking something like a backup fuel tank that would auto refill your tank by x amount where x was amount used... or maybe something that makes it so you can travel x2 range on 7.0 fuel. Just throwing around ideas until I can actually try something. I know in the TNK version that I have the source for I had added a flag to the source code that I could trigger when I'd buy an item. ah well, we'll see what I can come up with as soon as I figure out how to script.

Xelite which was based on TNK has a 14.0 ly range. It does reduce the number of hops across a galaxy dramatically, and makes every planet/system reachable
