Is there any cheats for this game, I would really like to upgrade my ship, but it always takes so long to get the funds together in the first instance...

The only cheat is to edit the savefile manually. This can be found in Oolite/oolite.app/oolite-saves/ and should open in an ordinary text editor. For extra money find the line similar to <key>credits</key>
<integer>724836</integer>. Just edit the number to the amount of money you want. You can also change your ship directly but that takes a bit more work.

Or if you install the Black Monks OXP, you can take a loan giving you enough cash to fit some basic equipment and capital to trade with. Don't forget to pay it back though!

As LB said, but of course you will never get the satisfaction of genuinely becoming Elite. I'd be inclined to follow LB's advice and get a loan, and find a really profitable trade route, you can also improve the profitability of your runs by installing Hoopys Casino!

Thanks

I used this cheat to upgrade my ship and weaponry, then dropped myself back down to a more reasonable amount of money. I don't have endless hours to devote to the game, so this lets me get to the good stuff sooner. Thanks for the tip!

It is your Ooniverse, adjust it to your style.

And welcome to the friendliest board this side of Riedquat!

You know, I'd swear there was a reason I wrote ooCheat. Now I wonder what it could have been?

Personally, i have found that cheats tend to make the game far less interesting to me, so I do not use them generally.

I would like not to cheat. But at the present my Cobra Mark III looses as much value as I gain on each trip with computers from industry to farmland. How do I find a trade rute that actually make a profit?

Hi Karnach and welcome... if you mean the value of your Cobra III in the shipyard, this will fall gradually until you're offered a [EliteWiki] maintenance overhaul.
This will jump the ship's value right back up, and will happen regularly.

Ahh. Thank you. I was getting desperate here. Making a lousy 2k credits and seeing the walue of the ship dropping 2,5k credits per run.

Back to hard work then, hauling 35 computers per run :(

Heh... it's a longish road, but the numbers do stack-up eventually, even in the Cobra III (which I still fly).
You'll soon have a million or three! Clear lanes, Commander!

Dear RokChild

If you can kill or scoop-and-sell many thargoid robot fighters, then you will make lots of money. At least if you end up in a situation where there are lots of them in an inactive state, and you've lots of patience. And at least if you have a ship that can repair itself (and getting that capacity does admittedly cost a lot of money). My OXP InterstellarTweaks might help you to scoop/destroy many of those fighters. Might . .
