Oosat2 - Moderators/Administrators wanted!

All,

I hardly get a chance to sift through Oosat2 and do all the admin gruntwork, so things get behind. I've just been away, and that meant things got REALLY behind.

Any volunteers? This includes:
- approving new/updated uploads
- keeping the expansion list (on the left) up to date
- deleting the inevitable spam

If so tell me what your username on oosat2 is and I'll grant you the correct permissions (PM me if it doesn't work though!)

I volunteer if you don't find someone better.

I mean: I can't do it every single day, there are days I'm not behind my computer, and I don't always have time everytime I am... So preferrably somebody else should do it (or more than one person)

(Edit) I'm also Rxke on Oosa(Edit2) : I'm currently not the best choice because I don't have that much free time... (deadlines to meet, again and again)

While I'm a new face, I'd be more than happy to help. I can delete spam, at the very least.

My username on Oosat is the same as it's on here.

Likewise a relative noob, but willing to help out where ever I can. Due to an unfortunate case of fat fingers, on OOSAT I am "reils" as opposed to "reills."

Also being a newbie I'll try to help out where I can (work permitting). I might not be able to write OXPs, but would like to contribute in some way.

I'll stick my hand up.

I agree with what Rxke said though, it would probably be best with a small team so that if one person is away then it shouldn't cause a backlog.

I'm Uncle Reno there as well.

While we have your attention (heehee)

The boards are really getting too much spam, it is getting too bad,

If you have some time to spare, could you look into the solutions posted here: https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?p=30850#30850

(last link links the best solution IMHO.)

Yup, Anti-Spam ACP is the one we use and it has kept the baddies out very efficiently! :)

Can I suggest starting to use the Wiki as a repository for the OXPs? It makes sense, and it means that the wiki could start becoming a one-stop shop for all things OOlite (and Elite, obviously).

It would take the administration work away from the overworked few, and allows much more customisation of each entry (although templates could be used).

I second this idea! :)

yup, nice idea this one......one question though, is it easy to upload to Wiki?

Good idea.

I did put links to most OXPs both from the OXP page and from the individual pages for for the ships and stations, but people could easily forget to update those, when changing locations of their expansions when updating or for whatever other reasons. Having it all on one site would be nice.

Log on, got to 'Upload File' and Bob is your aunt. Or at least he is in my family (but we don't talk about that).

As Winston seems to be away again, I thought I'd have a go at uploading Murgh's mPak Redux (otherwise known as Rusty Ships  ) onto the Wiki but I've had no success. I can't choose to upload a folder and .rtf, .oxp and .zip aren't acceptable to the Wiki. :(

Any, preferably clean and helpful, suggestions? :?

Winston will have to modify the LocalSettings.php to add the relevant file types in the line quoted below:

Code: Select all

$wgFileExtensions = array( 'png', 'jpg', 'jpeg', 'ogg','doc','xls','ppt','mp3','sxc','pdf' );
Adding 'zip', to that list should allow uplaod of zip files, for example...
