I've noticed in the Feisty Faun repositories Oolite is included. I have tried to install it with no joy as it requires a later version of libc6 . How can I get Oolite to run on edgy?

Good question - I got it to run on Dapper but since I upgraded to Edgy it won't run. I just hope we don't have to wait for April when Feisty comes out before Oolite works again in Ubuntu.

I'm running Xubuntu 6.10 and I just download the package installer and it worked straight away...
Download the
package
Then
% gunzip Oolite-Linux-1.65-x86.tar.gz
% tar xvf Oolite-Linux-1.65-x86.tar
You should get a directory 'oolite-installer'
% cd oolite-installer
Run the installer
% ./install homedir
This will put it in your home directory
to run
% cd
% ./oolite
Should go from there!
Best of luck.
Cheers,
Drew.

Installation is fine - it's the running that's the problem. See
here for the error message I get.
I don't think Oolite is the problem as I also get "GLX missing on display ":0.0" when I try to run Beryl....
Edit: I managed to get it to run by updating the drivers. I suspect that when you go from Dapper to Edgy, the drivers didn't update so you have to do it manually:

Beryl requires a GLX server. Oolite does not. That's a separate problem.

I'll have to check the file and the path set up for you. On windows at work so will have to wait for when I have time to get back on my linux home pc...
Cheers,
Drew.

The auto package worked to install Oolite 1.65 on my Thinkpad T43 running Ubuntu (Edgy 6.10). Though the game loads, it is utterly unplayable conceivably because of graphics driver issues. I am running the opensource ATI 3d drivers, and I only get 5 or less frames per sec in Oolite on my lappy. I have been having a horribly unfortunate time getting fglrx drivers installed.
