man, i was in tears myself, i really, really have a hard time scripting! it's been a couple of months for me trying to get to this point and the oxp still doesn't really do anything usefull! anyway, hopefully this stuff can plug into the Tescoo oxp so we can have delivery ships etc stocking up the shelves and also have a lot of activity around the stations - can't find the thread but somebody had the great idea of a 'customs' point for ships to have their cargo checked.
We really are indebted for your hard work, thanks matey. This is such a friendly and helpful board, all you need do is ask for help with the scripting and you will be deluged (but not by me cos I ain't got a clue, I only wish I did)

Bring it ON!

This Oxp will hopefully go a long way to solving the oversized ships/docking issues, as well as being visually stunning.

@DH after you with the Kleenex
 Oh, you meant like that, sorry, filthy one track mind and all that...

@Griff - yeh I like the sound of a Tescoo oxp - Doc's a bit of an oxp flavour star so I'm sure he'll do something clever - it's quite nice to plant some tiny seed of an idea and watch others (much more talented than I) bring it to germination. Doc did a cracking job with ZZ Oo-haul and a Tescoo based one would be brill too. I'll be very happy with myself 1) when YAW 2 comes out - I think I've 8 in this one (with a few spaces left too) 2) When some variation of YAW comes out to include the Tescoo Oxpress stations (even better if it includes some of the ideas here - busy stations with your cargobots whizzing around between station and the too-large-to-dock-ships. 3) should I ever finish snoopes.oxp

@ Griff!

Well it is now in the game (as discussed)! See this snoopers broadcast:-

"Shares in Griff Robotics Ltd of Ateslte had a bullish market today, following the news that The Bank of the Black Monks of St Herod had placed an order with the company to replace the Order's existing bases with the vast Griff Robotics platform. All 200 Black Monk Abbeys thoughout the 8 Galaxies have been upgraded to the new platform.

Abbot Di Ne Gen of Zanoce was particulaly complementary of the new desgin:- "This Order hates sin and not to repay a debt is a most grevious sin. In the past people would just take our money with no intention of paying it back. They'd just fly past our Rock Hermits laughing at us or shoot down the feeble Mambas we sent after them. The new platform armed with Holy Turrets and the Tri-Laser and Plasma Gunship that Griff Robotics has provided for us greatly aids our fight against sin. Loan Defaulters beware."
OXPS : The Assassins Guild, Asteroid Storm, The Bank of the Black Monks, Random Hits, The Galactic Almanac, Renegade Pirates can be downloaded from the Elite Wiki here.

For the better. There are some really detailed ships and huds now, which are incredibly good, (I can't wait to see the "enterprise" in one of the far flung space lanes) and there are also some amazing plot lines and ideas for OXP's, which enhance the elite journey. Most importantly though the old ethos and game balance is still there, it's just better looking and more mentally stimulating.

Griff,

is there any reason that I shouldn't create a wiki page for your Busy Ports OXP? I rather think that it deserves one...

This oxp didn't really go anywhere past some experimenting and a bunch of art assets
i've put what i think might be that last version of the oxp here, i haven't tried it but i suspect it's nothing more than a demo:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

i think tugs.JPG is the missing screenshot from one of the earlier pages in this thread where i'm saying something like "i can't belive it's working!!" it's pretty difficult to see but i think the screenshot shows two of the "loader" robots carrying a cargo pod each and flying into the docking bay.
The oxp was going to have those big train like freighters pull up outside the station, and groups of these loaders would fly back and fore between the parked freighter and the main station carrying a cargo pod each, it was all going to be smoke and mirrors with the loaders just flying quickly to various
co-ordinates in front of the station before heading to the bay, it wasn't going to use any of oolites proper docking AI as it would have been too dithery with the loaders hogging all the available docking slots and queing up politely causing traffic jams :)

i found an 'all assembled' object file too so i've taken a few screenshots of the objects in it, these are the 'assets..' images in the folder, looks like the station and one of the ships found a home in LittleBears Blackmonks oxp, and also looking at the textures folder in the ocp it looks like the constore station might have started off here too in an early form, maybe some mining gprocessor oxp stuff too (think that didn't get past the demo stages either)

I did use Griff's robot loaders for a big cargo ship of mine. To avoid the mentioned traffic jams, they are going down to the planet. The current scenario is the ship parking next to the station and the loaders getting "launched". After all loaders are out, the ship is preparing for the next jump.

What is missing are loaders from the planet approaching the ship. As much as I remember after 2 days of trying I decided to give it a break, which, now, is more than 1 year.
Scars remind us where we've been. They don't have to dictate where we're going.
