Other factions and their place in the Ooniverse

What (if anything) is happening with the Duvalian Empire, the Federation and Alliance of the FE2 and FFE universes. Do they exist, and if so are they not as influential as GalCop apparently is? Are they defunct or historical or have they yet to be formed? I ask as I have had no experience of FE2 or FFE, so does anyone (other than Giles) know what timeframe Oolite runs in or is it utterly seperate from the 'alternate' Elite Universe?

Personnally I'd prefer it be be a paradoxical alternative to the original Elite - a comic book style divergence - where you have well known "characters" (ships, planets, equipment etc) but they've been given their own spin-off title with "us" (the users and writers of oxps (not that I'm in the latter of those two catergories properly yet)) adding new characters and story arcs all the time.
I don't think we need "Frontier" style additions - some of the other stuff (like Star Wars ships) is quirky and fun but I haven't left those oxps installed. For me, I want the original Elite that will grow with me as I and it develops.

Selezen has done a lot of excellent work on this, have a look at the timeline on this link on his site

Thanks, Commander! I'll have a read.
The reason I was asking was because I am writing a piece of fiction set in the Oolite 'reality' about my favourite trumble trader, Captain Hesperus, and I wanted to know the state that exists between these different organisations, are they 'at war', in a Cold War state, or whatever since this would (obviously) affect the way that the story will run (for instance there will be a fight between the luckless captain and some Eagle II's, so I want to know whether to write them as pirates in old/stolen ships or as raiders from the Empire into GalCop space) and what events will occur in the Captain's backstory.
/speedreads Selezen's expanded timeline
So Oolite is effectively between the dates 3125 (or 3134) and 3174, during GalCop's dominance, travel to Empire or Federation is impossible, although it is conceivable that ships belonging to those factions could travel to GalCop systems (and be automatically given Fugitive status).
Remind me to give Selezen big kudos!
Captain Hesperus

looks like it was not possible to eliminate all contradictions with F/FFE

I'd like to see factions released as oxps. It would be cool if somebody did Earth and the Imperial home world (Achenar?)
The one thing from Frontier that would be really nice IMO is the one giant galaxy approach.
Landing on planets was interesting too, but it probably wouldn't look that good with the current relative scale of astronomical bodies and crafts.

Selezen previously wrote that he had built pretty much all the ships used by the Imperial faction, although he had only released the IC and Eagle II on Oosat 1. It might take a little cajoling to encourage him and other master shipwrights (see, I started brown-nosing already) to put together 'faction OXPs' that include the most archetypal ships for the different factions from FE2/FFE.

Selezen's timeline is indeed excellent. I'm making my fiction consistent with it (and Status Quo, which is also based on it).
From memory I think 3142 has been established as the "current Oolite time" - I'd say the situation we experience in Oolite exists between 3136 and 3148/9.
God, this is a geeky post, but I loves it!
