Looking for some pseudo-sientific details:

Why witchspace is 2d while space is 3d? How do witchspace distances map to real space?

Some non-newtonian propulsors explanation: why and how is planet-star-witchpoint system static for ship movement?

The Jump is computer controlled and the position the Commander appears in real space is determined by the position of the witch-space beacon. The beacon is equiped with small thrusters and is programed to orbit with the planet. It only appears therefore that the beacon and planet are in a straight line. The planet is orbiting, but as the beacon orbits with the planet the witchspace entry point is contantley moving, so ships always appear at a point that is in a straight line with the current position of the planet in its orbit.

This is a deliberate saftey feature built in by GalCop Far Away Jump Control to ensure entering ships do not have to travel too far towards the habitable planet. Imagine how annoying it would be if you had to travel several A.U.s! You might need some type of stardreamer to pass the time.

My FF commander was addicted to stardreamer.

The times he had to use his escapepod, because his drive malfunctioned are numerous.
